Established in 1946, the Vachel Lindsay Association (VLA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to stimulate interest in the significance of the life, writings, works of art, and ideals of the poet Nicholas Vachel Lindsay. More recently, our mission has been expanded to include assisting whenever possible in the preservation and maintenance of the Vachel Lindsay Home and grounds.

By becoming a member of the Vachel Lindsay Association, you will get a first glimpse into many of the exciting events and activities being hosted at the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site through the Vachel Lindsay Association Newsletter. In addition, your membership contribution will help us spread Vachel’s “Gospel of Beauty” through educational workshops and arts programming at the beautifully restored Vachel Lindsay Home and through its ever-expanding online companion, the Vachel Lindsay Association website. Your support also helps ensure the preservation of “our” historic home and its artifacts.

If you love meeting new people, having fun, and making a difference in your community, consider becoming a volunteer at the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site. Volunteers lead tours, assist with special events, conduct research, and act as costumed interpreters. Training is required.

Your gift today will help support programming, scholarship and the preservation of the historic home of Nicholas Vachel Lindsay. Will you join our efforts?

  • Make a gift to support programs at the Home.
  • Become a corporate sponsor for an event or program.
  • Honor Vachel’s legacy with your own. Consider making a planned gift to the Vachel Lindsay Association.

The VLA also actively seeks gifts-in-kind, grant funding, employer matched gifts, and sponsorships for special projects. Such support means a great deal to us, and we will work together to find a way to give that best reflects your interests and preferences.

Contact the VLA at for more information about how your contribution can make a lasting mark.
